One of the most beautiful common tetras, the Flame Tetra is also sometimes called the Von Rio Tetra. It has a bright red body, giving rise to the both the common and scientific name, Hyphessobrycon flammeus.
These small tetras will do quite well in a planted tank, where their colours will really shine. They also make a great addition to a community fish tank. They can be used as dither fish with some of the more shy, less aggressive Apistogramma species, as well, such as the Agassizi, Cockatoos, or similar.
