Dwarf Pencil Fish, Nannostomus marginatus

The smallest member of the genus Nannostomus, the "Golf Pencil Fish" is a great addition to a small, nano aquarium. These beautiful, striped Pencil Fish have a bright red mark on their chest, which adds a lot of contrast and colour to a small aquarium. They will do best in a planted tank, with a lot of cover.
The small size of the Dwarf Pencil Fish means that it probably shouldn't be kept with larger Dwarf Cichlids which may eat it. However, it makes an excellent addition to a tank with some of the smaller species of Anabantoid, such as Licorice Gouramies. It can also be successfully maintained in a community with any number of smaller species, such as Pygmy Corydoras, Galaxy Rasboras, and the like!
