Hyalobagrus (Pelteobagrus) ornatus

Hyalobagrus (Pelteobagrus) ornatus is a rarely imported, unique catfish. Mostly transparent, with a bright yellow line and interesting spangling, these catfishes are truly beautiful and make a great addition to a planted aquarium, where they will often be found hovering in the shade created by large leafed plants. They are an active, shoaling species, and should not be kept in groups of less than six.
These small, active catfishes mix well with virtually any fish small enough to not pick on or eat them. While they are likely to be predatory in nature, they do not seem to bother smaller fish in our experience, but we do not recommend they be kept with bite-sized fish (e.g., Microdanios).
We do recommend that a good, high quality, sinking pellet be given as a staple for their diet, such as New Era Catfish Pellets.
