We have a handful of juveniles of this nasty, large cichlid, currently at about 4-5". Be prepared for this fish to grow quite large, reaching a maximum size of about 14-16".

A typical large cichlid, these fish become increasingly aggressive as they mature, with adults sparing and fighting one another. Care should be taken in choosing tankmates that will not be eaten.

Suggested tank mates include any fast moving, schooling, large fish. Giant Danios, Australian Rainbowfish, and the like would be ideal. Expect to lose some of these to predation, but in a large enough tank, they should be able to escape being lunch!
