This beautiful little Tanganyikan cichlid is a non shell dwelling species, which will reach rather large sizes for a Tanganyikan, at nearly 6". Be aware that these fish are very predatory and everything they can fit into their mouth will likely be eaten. However, if they cannot eat it, they'll generally leave other fish alone.

While somewhat shy, these fish are an ideal addition to a Tanganyikan community tank, and will mix well with any of our other Tanganyikan fishes. Many types of rainbowfish will also thrive under these conditions, as well any number of the Synodontinis type catfishes. Be careful when choosing tankmates for this fish, as it will gulp down anything it can.
