A larger species of cichlid, these guys will reach a maximum size of about 8", though we are currently stocking juveniles at about 1-2". These fish are generally quite peaceful in the aquarium, though they may bicker slightly with one anther.

These fish are very forgiving of water conditions, and seem quite hardy. They are natural herbivores, and will rapidly mow down any aquatic plants in the aquarium. A quality vegetable based food is a must in the aquarium, and we strongly recommend our New Era Cichlid Grazers to offer these fish a constant supply of food.

These large cichlids will mix well with other large, peaceful cichlids, such as Chocolate Cichlids, Acara, and the like. They can also be successfuly maintained with any of the larger Loricariids, large tetras, rainbowfish, and cyprinids. A beautiful display could be set up around these fish with some Rohan's Barbs!
