These unusual Tilapia are very rarely seen in the hobby. A fairly large sized fish, these will reach 6-8" in the home aquarium. They are active fish and require a lot of swimming room.

As juveniles, these are a relatively drab fish, with a metalic silver and gold body. As they mature, and when the light hits them just right, you can see flashes of metalic green and red on the body.

Care should be taken in choosing tank mates for this fish, as they are both not particularly aggressive, but very predatory. Smaller fish will vanish. Large, active shoaling barbs, rainbowfish, and tetras are ideal tank mates. Other types of Tilapia or mildly aggressive cichld may also be maintained with this fish.
