Blue Panaque

One of the most unusually coloured species of Loricariid out there, the Purple Pleco has a dark, almost black body colour with purple and blue hues in the fins. When the light hits them right, and when the fish is in a good mood, the entire body may appear light blue. (This is incredibly difficult to photograph!)
Typical of most species of Baryancistrus, males may quarrel with one another, but generally do little or no harm, particularly when sufficient hiding places are given. These fish are fantastic algae eaters, but will strongly benefit from a high protein food, as well as some driftwood in the tank decor to gnaw on. These are a very hardy fish, which can handle a variety of water conditions.
