A striking catfish, the origins of this particular fish are unknown. Synodontis "valentiana" is suspected of being a hybrid between S. decorus and S. multipunctatus, however, these fish were imported from Zaire, making us wonder if it is indeed a hybrid, or if it is naturally occuring, or if it was simply misidentified by the exporter, and represents some regional variety of S. decorus.
No matter what their origins, these are a pretty Synodontis, and should be treated like most others. These fish will mix well with most African cichlids, other catfishes, and large, active fishes, such as barbs, tetras, and rainbowfish.
We do recommend that a good, high quality, sinking pellet be given as a staple for their diet, such as New Era Catfish Pellets.
